Why Maverick?

Maverick is a 3-year-old Highland bull from the highly respected Star Lake breeding program. His pedigree carries the influence of renowned Scottish foundation genetics, including Jock of Glengorm, Rioghal of Balmoral, Jock 28th of Leys, and Bean Ruadh 40 of Leys. These influential bloodlines have long been recognized for preserving traditional Highland breed character, structural correctness, and functional longevity.

Beyond his pedigree, Maverick possesses one of the best dispositions we have experienced. Calm, confident, and easy to work around, he is halter-broke, leads quietly, and coexists well with other bulls, making him an enjoyable and practical breeding bull in a working herd.

His calves have consistently arrived at moderate birth weights in the 50–60 pound range while maintaining quality, correctness, and vigor. Over three breeding seasons, Maverick has proven himself to be a reliable herd sire whose progeny have become an important part of our own breeding program.

After retaining much of his genetics through his offspring, Maverick was sold to another breeding program. His profile remains available as a record of his pedigree, performance, temperament, and influence within the J Bar T herd.
